Meet the Artist
Hello and Welcome!
I'm Anna. I love trying to create something beautiful! Painting refreshes my soul and challenges me to grow as an artist and as a person. When I am immersed in art, I feel more fully alive and true to myself. I am based out of Omaha, Nebraska, where I paint, show, and sell my work. I also sell online and do lessons and demonstrations on YouTube. I am thankful God has allowed me to share in the quest of bringing forth beauty through artwork. It is a joy to do what I love and a privilege to share it with you. |
The Art
Much of my work could be described as colorful, flowing, joyful, and imaginative. I paint mostly in watercolor and acrylics. I enjoy painting landscapes, seascapes, skies, abstracts, and scenes of nature depicted in a whimsical or vibrant way.
My palette is brightly-colored and my studio space is brimming with half-finished paintings and scores of ideas. This website showcases my latest works in the fluid art style, in which I use multiple pouring techniques and different mediums to create flowing, abstract effects. Watch the process here. |
The Inspiration
Beauty draws me out of the trivial concerns of life and out of myself... into a space of freedom and joy. When I am confronted with beauty, or longing for it, I remember that I am made for heaven, and nothing less than God can satisfy the desires of my soul.
I am profoundly inspired by nature, my Catholic faith, other artists, my vocation, the longing for beauty, and the joy that comes from knowing I am loved and made for more. Why do I paint? Because I am inspired. I desire to. To make something beautiful. To be a part of something beautiful. To cultivate and use the gifts God has given me to glorify Him, make Him known, and spread a little wonder and joy in my corner of this world. Ultimately, I have a deep stirring within my soul to make something beautiful...to conceive an idea, give flesh to it, and behold it outside of myself. For me, art is a way to try to capture an inner longing for heaven, for all that is good, true, and beautiful. To rejoice in life and live more fully as the person God created me to be. |
Credit Where it's Due
Thank you to my loving and supportive family who encourage me to use and develop my gifts and talents. I give praise and thanks to Almighty God, the Divine Artist, for allowing me the great happiness of participating in a small way in His creation. He loves and cares for us beyond our imagination! In my pursuit of art I realize a glimmer of his promise to fulfill a deep desire of my soul...to be a part of something eternally beautiful. |
"When I grow up," I tell her, "I too will go to faraway places and come home to live by the sea."
"That is all very well, little Alice," says my aunt, "but there is a third thing you must do."
"What is that?" I ask.
"You must do something to make the world more beautiful."
"All right," I say.
